so...I haven't posted one of these in a while, but I'm back doing projects so I might as well post one, in case anybody cares.
Christmas was busy, I had to buy people presents, and the things I was in the process of making for them are strewn about in various states of uncompletedness.
I'll get around to those eventually.
In the meantime I've been in typical sewing fervor. I got some money in the bank and i've been slowly aquiring things for which to costume with again. We still don't know what con we're gonna be able to make it to next...(things are all a little up in the air, with Cassi graduating and moving back to Seattle, and me planning on attending the UW next year). BUT! (fanfare please!) Josh got Tobi and I tickets to Emerald City Comicon! (which, depressingly, I've never actually been to). So I'll be there in early March. Fun!
I probably won't have all new costumes for this, so I'm not pressuring myself but I am working on, on top of a few personal portfolio projects, several costumes that I just 'feel like making'.
The one I'm most excited about is the next set of Girl Genius stuff I'm working on. Namely, the Cinderella costumes.
We'd do the Three ugly stepsisters (well, two ugly stepsisters...plus Maxim); and (ideally) the fairy godmother costume (FUN! I've wanted to make that forever); and lastely the EXCELLENTLY-SPLENDIFOURUS Cinderella dress.
I actually bought the world's largest hoopskirt for this the other day (I was about to make it, but I found one online for stupid cheap). It's huge. Bigger than the open space in my sewing room, so I'm not quite sure how this is all exactly going to work...
I also have started aquiring some of the fabric, and in this department I've been really lucky to find some really scrumptious stuff for pretty cheap. I'm currently working on getting the top fabric of the skirt (two-tone gold and yellow, in big stripes). I actually found the EXACT fabric on Ebay, but the guy only does local-pickup and he lives in Virgina. I'm trying to sweet talk him into shipping it out here.
I've also found some amazingly perfect fabric for a BLue Raja costume from Mystery Men. I'm gonna start on that set soon. I'll be the Shoveler, then we'd have a blue raja, the bowler, casanova frankenstein, (possibly) mr. Furious, and a Femme Captian Amazing.
I've also been working on a Candyland set (for which the giant hoop will also be used, thank-you Queen Frostine) and a Clue set that I'm rather excited about. I got a pith helmet for Christmas so I'm all set for a She-Colonol Mustard
I've got Friday's off this quarter so I'm all set to get sewing. Provided I get over this nasty cold.
Anywho. Thats the scuttlebutt.
